About the Future Democrats of America
The Future Democrats of America is a non-profit organization committed to enlisting, educating, energizing and recruting young members of the community to work for the Democratic Party. Our organization started after the Republican "take-over" of government after the 2004 election. President Bush was re-elected along with a stronger majority for the Republicans in the Senate and House of Representatives. At this time, young members of the community were angered by lack of progress by their government and realized that they can have an influence in the political process as well.
We started the Future Democrats of America after the 2004 election with the hopes that the Democrats could have some prospects towards the upcoming 2006 mid-term elections. We endorsed several great candidates and committed our time, money and efforts to getting them elected. In late October, The Future Dems. placed a diary on DailyKos with the hope of getting some attention to Claire McCaskill's senate campaign. We added a contribution link through ActBlue and within minutes, we had raised over $2,000.00 for McCaskill's campaign. With this push by our members and long hours of volunteer work, hours of letters and phone calls, McCaskill was elected to the Senate by a two point margian. Democrats also picked up seats in PA, RI, VA, OH, and MT.
After our successful efforts in the 2006 election, we wanted to recruit as many people as possible and raise as much as possible to get as much youth involved in the campaign than ever before. Now, our prospects are even greater as we seek to hold the congress under Democratic Rule and finally put a Democrat in the White House.
